TUYEN QUANG INTRODUCTION

Tuyen Quang is a province in northeastern Vietnam, renowned for its heroic history, stunning natural landscapes, and rich ethnic culture. Known as the "capital of the liberated zone" during the resistance wars, Tuyen Quang is home to many important historical sites.

The province also attracts visitors with its pristine nature, such as the Na Hang – Lam Binh ecological lake, Mo Waterfall, Song Long Cave, and lush primeval forests. It is home to various ethnic minority groups, including the Tay, Dao, and Hmong, each contributing to a vibrant cultural mosaic with traditional festivals, music, and cuisine.

  • Na Hang Ecotourism Area


Located in Na Hang District, Tuyen Quang Province, the Na Hang Ecotourism Area is a standout destination known for the wild and majestic beauty of the northeastern mountains. This area is where the Gam and Nang rivers meet, forming the vast Na Hang Lake, often referred to as “Ha Long Bay among the mountains.”

  • Nam Me Waterfall


Nam Me Waterfall is located in Khuon Ha Commune, Lam Binh District. "Nam Me" in the Tay language means "Mother Waterfall" or "Mother Stream."
The waterfall flows from the mountain peak, down to the lower reaches, and then merges into the river. It is one of the major waterfalls in the region, about 4,000 meters long and over 200 meters above sea level, with 15 large tiers. Between the major tiers are smaller ones, and the water flow remains fairly steady throughout the year.
The waterfall has a wide and open surface, with water flowing all year round through forests and layers of towering limestone mountains. The surrounding forest is home to ancient trees, featuring rare tropical hardwoods, and is adjacent to a lake, creating a beautiful and captivating landscape.
Nam Me Waterfall is becoming a popular destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

 

  • Coc Vai Pha

Coc Vai Pha stands as a sacred symbol of the land. In the Tay language, “Vai Pha” means “Sky Pillar” – a name inspired by the image of a massive stone column towering into the sky amid a vast mountain landscape, as if connecting the earth to the heavens.

This stone pillar rises several tens of meters high, with a unique shape formed through millions of years of natural weathering. Surrounded by pristine forests, overlapping mountain ranges, and a fresh climate, the area offers a peaceful and poetic atmosphere, attracting many visitors for sightseeing, photography, and exploration.

Beyond its natural beauty, Coc Vai Pha holds deep cultural and spiritual significance for the local people. According to folk legends, this is a sacred site associated with mysterious tales of deities and ancestors.   • Pac Ta Mountain


Pac Ta is one of the most famous mountains in Tuyen Quang, located in a beautiful and untouched forest. In the Tay language, "Pac Ta" means "gateway to the forest," which reflects its special position as an entrance to the vast wilderness. 

 

The mountain is strong and tall, standing in the valley. Local people have long considered it a sacred place, with many legends about forest gods. From the top of Pac Ta, visitors can enjoy a great view of the beautiful Tuyen Quang landscape – mountains, rivers, and villages hidden in the mist.

 

Pac Ta is not only a great place for trekking and exploring nature, but it is also a spot to learn about the culture and beliefs of the local ethnic groups.

  • Ba Be Lake

Ba Be Lake is one of the largest and most beautiful natural freshwater lakes in Vietnam, located within Ba Be National Park, Ba Be District, Bac Kan Province.

 

The lake covers an area of approximately 500 hectares, stretches over 8 kilometers, and is surrounded by limestone mountains, primeval forests, and a diverse ecosystem. This place is renowned for its peaceful beauty, crystal-clear water, and cool climate all year round. Visitors to Ba Be Lake can enjoy the natural freshwater scenery, visit Tien Cave, An Ma Island, and Fairy Pond.

  • H52 Military Weapon Factory Relic

The H52 Military Weapon Factory Relic is an important historical site located in Thuong Lam Commune, Lam Binh District, Tuyen Quang Province. This site was a secret weapon production facility serving the resistance against French colonial forces from 1950 to 1954.

 

This location was chosen for its rugged terrain, which made it easy to defend and ideal for the secret manufacturing of weapons. Today, the H52 Military Weapon Factory is a destination for history enthusiasts interested in exploring the resistance against French colonialism. The relic was recognized as a national heritage site in 2009.

 

  • PU BAO TEMPLE 

Pu Bao Temple is located in Ban Ke B village, Lang Can commune - an ancient Tay village. Situated on a flat area backed by majestic mountains and the clear Nam Luong stream, this temple worships Mother Thuong Ngan - the goddess of mountains and forests, protector of the ethnic communities in the highlands. 

Pu Bao Temple not only holds deep spiritual value but also attracts visitors with its tranquil natural scenery and unique traditional architecture. 

During festivals, locals and tourists come here to offer incense, praying for peace, favorable weather, and bountiful harvests.

 

  • Green Tree Temple

Also known as Canh Xanh Temple, it is a unique spiritual destination located in Thuong Lam commune, Lam Binh district, Tuyen Quang province. Nestled amid lush mountains, the temple offers visitors a sense of peace and relaxation.

 Named after a perennial green tree - symbolizing life and good fortune - the temple serves as a place for worship, praying for health, luck, and peace, while also allowing visitors to explore the local spiritual culture.

  • Thuong Temple

Thuong Temple, also known as Mother Thuong Ngan Temple, is situated on a high mountain amid majestic natural surroundings. Dedicated to Mother Thuong Ngan - one of the Three Holy Mothers in the Vietnamese Four Palaces belief, recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

 People from near and far come here to pray for wealth, fortune, and peace, especially during the early spring.

  • Hang Pagoda

Hang Pagoda, also known as Kim Son Pagoda, is situated in a natural cave in Tan Yen town, Ham Yen district, Tuyen Quang province. Its unique architecture harmonizes with the natural limestone landscape, creating a mystical and serene atmosphere. 

The pagoda attracts not only pilgrims but also visitors interested in culture and history, with its ancient Buddhist statues and sacred space.

  • Nguyen Tat Thanh square

Nguyen Tat Thanh Square is the central square of Tuyen Quang city, named after President Ho Chi Minh (birth name: Nguyen Tat Thanh) - the beloved leader of Vietnam. This square is not only an architectural landmark but also a significant cultural and political space for the province. It features a monument of President Ho Chi Minh standing with ethnic minorities of Tuyen Quang, symbolizing his deep affection for the people of the Viet Bac region. 

The spacious and airy square is a popular spot for large cultural events, festivals, and community activities. It also serves as a recreational area for locals and tourists, especially in the evenings and weekends.

  • Tam Co Temple ( Lower temple)

Located in the center of Tuyen Quang City, Tam Co Temple (also known as Lower Temple) is a sacred place of worship for the Mother Goddess, who is believed to bring peace, health, and good harvests. 

The temple belongs to the Tam Phu Mother Goddess worship system, a unique aspect of Vietnamese folk beliefs recognized by UNESCO. The architecture features traditional curved roofs, dragon and phoenix motifs, and a serene atmosphere.

  • Kiep Bac Temple

Kiep Bac Temple is a historical and cultural site located in Trung Vuong commune, Tuyen Quang City, dedicated to the national hero Tran Hung Dao, known for his resistance against the Mongol invasions during the Tran dynasty. 

Located peacefully by the clear waters of the Lo River, the temple has an ancient architectural style with mossy tiled roofs and intricate wood carvings.

  • Hong Thai Bloom

Situated in the highland area of Hong Thai commune, this pear blossom garden is a natural highlight, especially in spring (January to March), when the white pear flowers bloom, covering the mountains. 

Visitors can take photos and immerse themselves in the poetic scenery, making it an ideal eco-tourism destination for nature lovers.

  • Khau Trang Cultural Village

 Located in Hong Thai commune, Na Hang district, Tuyen Quang province, Khau Trang Cultural Village is home to the Dao Tien ethnic group. It is a unique destination for community-based tourism. 

Visitors can explore local culture through traditional embroidery, beeswax painting on fabric, and participate in community activities such as singing and dancing. The village offers an authentic cultural experience in a picturesque mountainous setting.

Tour Itinerary View Details

Morning: Tour guide pick up guests at the meeting point and head to Na Hang Wharf (Tuyen Quang).You will board the boat and enjoy the views of the lake, such as: Pac Ta Mountain, Fairy Rock, Double Mountain, Fallen Mountain, Tuyen Quang Hydroelectric Reservoir, Vai Pha Pillar , Khuoi Nhi Waterfall, all located in the Na Hang & Lam Binh Nature Reserve.

Afternoon: Enjoy lunch on the boat with local specialties.The boat will dock at Thuong Lam Wharf, and you can check in to your room to rest.
The group will have dinner with traditional dishes from the local ethnic people. After dinner, you can join in a folk music performance with the locals.

Overnight at the hotel.

 

Morning: Enjoy breakfast. Tour guide will take you to visit:

  • Pu Ban Temple in Lang Can Commune, which honors Duc Quan Cong Nguyen The Quan and is also the place to worship the village guardian god.

Noon: Enjoy lunch at the restaurant. After that, the group will board the bus to Tuyen Quang City to visit:

  • Cay Xanh Temple (also called Canh Xanh Temple).

  • Nguyen Tat Thanh Square.

  • My Lam Hot Spring.

After dinner, the group is free to explore Tuyen Quang City at night.


Overnight at Tuyen Quang Guesthouse.

 

Morning: Enjoy breakfast, then Guests will visit the following places:

  • Thuong Temple (Mau Thuong Ngan Temple).

  • Hang Pagoda - an ancient pagoda built in the 16th century, during the Mac Dynasty (Mac Dang Doanh). The pagoda is located in Huong Nghiem Mountain, part of the historical site complex including the Bau Citadel and Binh Ca Wharf.

Afternoon: Enjoy lunch at the restaurant. After that, continue the journey back to Hanoi.
